What Does Our Concrete Surface Protection Kit (Varnish) Include?
The Harmony Béton Protection Kit contains:
- A can of pore filler
- Optimum two-component varnish
- FREE application tools
Good to know: Optimum varnish is a two-component product (A and B). You’ll receive one can of Optimum varnish (A) to be mixed with the second can (B), which contains the hardener.
How to Prepare Your Surface for the Protection Kit Application
Our protection kit is compatible with underfloor heating and anhydrite screed floors.
Before applying the kit, the surface should be cleaned with a neutral cleaner. If there is any persistent dirt, such as stains, grease, or oil, we recommend using a more powerful cleaner, like Harmony Décireur or Harmony Degreaser.
Once the surface is clean, sound, and completely dry, you’re ready to begin applying the protection kit.
How to Apply the Concrete Surface Protection Kit
With your floor prepped, start by applying a layer of pore filler to unify the surface and prepare it for the Optimum varnish.
This step helps reduce the surface’s porosity. It’s essential to apply a thin layer using the roller included in the kit, spreading it evenly across the entire surface.
Harmony Pore Filler appears white but dries transparent.
Allow the pore filler to dry for at least 2 to 4 hours before applying the Optimum varnish.
Applying Optimum Varnish
Once the pore filler layer is fully dry, follow these steps to apply the Optimum varnish:
- First Coat: Mix part of component A with component B according to the instructions provided with your kit or available on our website.
- Use the roller included in the kit to apply the varnish mixture.
- Allow this coat to dry for 5 to 10 hours.
- Second Coat: Mix the remaining portions of components A and B according to the instructions.
- Allow a minimum drying time of 12 hours after the second coat.
- Your floor is now ready to enjoy!
Choosing the Right Finish for Your Concrete Floor
You can select a matte, satin, or glossy finish according to your preferences.
A matte finish preserves the raw appearance of your floor, adding character to the space.
A glossy, mirror-like finish provides a highly luminous look and can visually lengthen the room.
The satin finish offers a medium shine, striking the perfect balance between matte and glossy.
