Renovate and color - Harmony Béton

Find our advice for maintaining, cleaning and coloring your decorative concrete. Faced with cracks and various tasks, we offer specific solutions as well as recommendations for renovating and coloring your concrete.

Cracks

Depending on the concrete poured, provide expansion joints. Some "concretes" do not need it (waxed concrete, anhydrite screed...).

Do not overdose with water. Prefer to use a plasticizer to facilitate concrete processing.

Use a water or solvent-based curing agent to prevent the water from evaporating too quickly.

Increase strength by incorporating fibers.

In the case of an uncertain or doubtful substrate, use a fibrous weft glued with an epoxy resin in order to have a stable substrate.

Some cracks can be treated and consolidated and others, structural, will require professional repair.

The crack when it is not structural is only unsightly.  However, outdoors, it can eventually become larger with water infiltration, freezing and thawing and compromise the strength of the structure. It is therefore better to treat it.

For cracks on patching, it is necessary to tap around the crack to see if it sounds hollow. If this is the case, it is probably due to a detachment of the coating with the substrate. The preparation of the substrate and/or the primer did not allow the patching to adhere. It then peels off and cracks. At this stage, there is no solution to repair cracks. You have to break and redo all or part of the work.

In the case where the crack does not sound hollow, it is only unsightly. However, it should be monitored to ensure that it does not grow or sound hollow. The treatment of a ground crack can be achieved by injecting an epoxy resin after having previously "opened" it with a disc machine.

To do this, use either the epoxy resin or the resin and a fibrous weft.

Dust

Are you tired of your concrete slab being dusty?

That every time you pass the dust broom flies.

The only solution is to treat the slab.

First, it is necessary to determine whether your slab has been smoothed by hand or by helicopter.

Smoothing with a power trowel, also known as a helicopter, usually results in a slightly porous slab.

4 solutions are available to you according to the objective you are looking for:

Your choice should be our liquid hardener mineralizer.

The one that penetrates into the concrete reacts chemically with the free lime in the cement-based substrate.

This chemical reaction makes it possible to harden the surface and avoid dust while also providing a water repellent side.

Indoors and outdoors.

Your choice should be our coloured protective varnish.

The one that penetrates into the concrete hardens the surface while creating a coloured protective film.

Indoors and outdoors.

Your choice should be our protective varnishes.

The one that penetrates into the concrete creates a hardened surface while creating a protective film. Depending on the varnish chosen, the protective film can be satin to gloss.

The colour of the concrete will also be enhanced.

Your choice should be our floor paint, which protects your floor from dust and stains.

The latter gives a beautiful shiny appearance to your floor. Our floor paint is available in all RAL colours.

Indoors and outdoors.

Stains, pollution and graffiti

Is your concrete stained or dirty? Does it need to be thoroughly cleaned?

You will find here all the products necessary for cleaning or stripping a stained concrete. To know which product is used, it is first necessary to determine the origin or type of tasks.

Grease or grease stains are often difficult to remove or remove from concrete and more generally from porous substrates such as plasters.

To put all your chances on your side, use our powerful degreaser by diluting it more or less.

Over the years, unprotected concrete slabs or facades, plastered walls become stained and blackened by pollution and dirt.

To remedy this and clean your surfaces easily, use our floor and wall renovator cleaner.

Thanks to its concentrated, versatile and alkaline formulation, it thoroughly cleans soiled surfaces.

To remove laitance from concrete or cement veil after tiling, the fastest and safest solution is to use our cement veil remover.

Your roof or siding has mosses, lichens, moulds...

Use our Stop mouss as a curative and preventive measure. Easy to use, it can be sprayed on the surface.

All that remains is to let it work. No need to rinse.

Many products are available against scale. However, most of them are not designed to avoid damaging the protective varnishes of waxed concrete. They are designed to be applied to tiles.

Our anti-scaling formula is specially designed to remove scale without damaging your concrete and its protection.

To clean a varnished concrete floor on a daily basis, use a neutral ph cleaner or black soap.

We have 2 neutral cleaners. One that cleans and deodorizes, the other, 3D that cleans, deodorizes and disinfects.

If you want to stay in the natural world, use black soap made from olive oil.

Colouring concrete

We will not talk here about colouring your concrete by applying over a waxed or smoothed concrete type coating.

The colouring of your concrete and more generally that of the mortar or a patching will be done either in the mass during pouring or superficially when it is dry.

With liquid or powdered dye.

Thanks to our wide range of dyes, you can create unique colours.

However, you will need to do some tests beforehand to determine which dosage for which colour you want.

Our patina is a solution composed of aqueous phase polymer and dye. Easy to apply, it allows you to create the effects you want (wiped, plain, rubbed...).

The idea is to patinate your support to give it a desired color and effects. This requires that your substrate is perfectly porous. The porosity of the surface determines the quality of penetration and adhesion of the patina. The more porous the surface, the more patina will penetrate and become an integral part of the substrate. The less porous the substrate, the more film-forming the patina will become.

Our colouring acids or stains acids are generally used outdoors. They allow old concrete to be coloured by a chemical reaction between the acid and the cement contained in the concrete.

For the process to work, it must be applied to a porous AND cement-based substrate. Otherwise, no colouring is done.

The acid allows to obtain unique effects that are similar to marble.

Our paint, although it does not penetrate the substrate as other products in this category can do, our floor paint is a quick and economical way to colour your floor.

With all the colours of the proposed RAL, it is impossible not to find the right colour for your project...

Our Enviro coloured varnish is a coloured varnish designed for outdoor use.

It makes it possible to renovate or colour a concrete floor while being translucent. With 12 colours that can be mixed together, the choice and possibilities are vast.

Rekindling a concrete

After several years, under the influence of the sun, the passage and dirt, the concrete loses its colour and becomes dull.

Regardless of the use of our surface renovator, which allows for deep cleaning and restoring a shine to the concrete, it is possible to either revive the colours or change them.

To revive a concrete, the fastest and most effective solution is to use a solvent based varnish or a coloured varnish.

Solvent-based varnishes enhance the colour of the substrate on which they are applied.

To enhance the colour a little and give it a soft satin finish, you should choose SL Permapro varnish.

If you want to give a wet effect, i.e. to strongly enhance the colour and give it a shiny appearance, you need the Wet Effect Plus varnish.

Before applying the varnish, you may need to remove the existing varnish before it is applied. For this, we have the varnish stripper.

If you want to bring color, your choice must be made on the enviro varnish colored with 12 colors to choose from and miscible between them.

To completely change the color of a concrete, a simple solution exists. The CML Concrete Rénov.

Rénov béton CML is a powder composed of ultra-fine quartz, cement and additives that mixes with water and is applied to the surface with a roller. Thanks to its strong covering and opaque properties, only 2 coats are required to completely change the initial colour of the concrete.

Be careful, it's not a painting.

Thanks to the quartz that composes it, Rénov béton is inherently non-slip.

This product is particularly recommended for printed concretes (to renovate or change their color).
